Being organic means we do things the natural way. We don’t use synthetic pesticides, chemicals, artificial growth hormones or anything that’s been genetically modified.
The cows spend their days in the sunshine munching on nutrient-rich, green grass. And, as the grass is so good, there’s no need to spray it with harmful artificial fertilisers, herbicides or chemical pesticides.
It’s how farming is supposed to be – doing what’s right for the animals, the soil, the wildlife and our local communities.
The most important thing on any farm is the soil.
On conventional farms, the overuse of oil-based fertilisers and pesticides erodes the quality of the soil, wipes out essential good bacteria and poisons local waterways.
We ensure the top layers of earth are packed with organic matter so the crops can thrive year after year. Rather than just grass, the meadows are filled with an incredible diversity of plant life, small shrubs and a scattering of wild flowers.
Many farmers and rural communities in Australia have been struck with the consequences of climate change, such as frequent floods, severe droughts and rising air temperatures causing bushfires.
Compared to conventional methods, organic farming uses 45% less energy, 20% less water and releases 40% less carbon*. We all have a part to play in protecting our planet, and choosing organic produce is a great first step.

Cattle on most dairy farms are fed or injected with antibiotics to stimulate growth artificially.
Humans are now at risk as so many of these chemicals get into our foods through meat and dairy products. We are building a gradual resistance to vital antibiotics that future generations will struggle to fight common diseases.
Organic farms don’t use antibiotics, so our products stay free of them, and the cows naturally have more resistance to bacterial infections too.
It’s no surprise to us that numerous studies have found that cows grazing on open pasture at organic farms are happier, less stressed and live longer than those who spend most of their lives packed into sheds or fed silage and hay.
At Barambah Organics, between 80 and 90% of every cow’s diet is delicious green grass, carefully supplemented with organic grains and natural minerals.
Milk provides the vitamins and nutrients children need to grow strong bones and healthy bodies.
