PROUD TO BE CERTIFIED ORGANIC

At Barambah Organics, we believe that great organic dairy starts at the source. We work with certified organic dairy farms who share our unwavering commitment to organic farming and high standards of animal welfare.

Strict certified organic principles are followed every step of the way — free from synthetic chemicals, pesticides and herbicides — ensuring the milk we use is as pure and natural as nature intended. This dedication to organic farming not only results in milk that is free from unwanted chemicals, but it is also produced in ways that protects soils, water, animals and biodiversity.

GRASS FED, FREE RANGE COWS

Barambah Organics partner farms are required to maintain a minimum stocking rate of one acre per cow, ensuring every animal has the space to engage in natural behaviours like grazing, socialising, and moving freely.

We firmly believe that happy, healthy cows produce better milk — and the science backs it up. Cows raised on certified organic farms and given ample space to roam and graze freely experience significantly lower stress levels, stronger immune systems, and better overall wellbeing compared to barn-raised cattle.

A landmark meta-analysis published in the British Journal of Nutrition (Średnicka-Tober et al., 2016) — the largest systematic review of its kind, analysing 170 published studies — found that organic milk contains significantly higher levels of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and antioxidants such as vitamin E, all of which are linked to improved heart health and immune function. This nutritional difference is attributed directly to the pasture-based grazing that is at the heart of certified organic farming versus conventional dairy farming.

Simply put, when cows are given the space, care, and natural environment they deserve, the result is milk that is better for you.

ORGANIC SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTICES

At Barambah Organics, our commitment to certified organic dairy goes far beyond what’s in the tub — it’s about farming in a way that genuinely respects and restores the Australian land we depend on. The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) recognises that certified organic farming delivers significant environmental benefits over conventional agriculture, including healthier soils, cleaner waterways, and greater biodiversity across Australian farmland. By avoiding synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides entirely, organic farming helps protect the surrounding ecosystems that healthy, productive land depends on — now and for future generations.

The Rodale Institute’s landmark Farming Systems Trial — the longest running side-by-side comparison of organic and conventional agriculture spanning over 40 years — found that organic farming systems use 45% less energy, releases 40% fewer carbon emissions, and leaches no toxic chemicals into waterways compared to conventional farming. Organic systems also demonstrated greater resilience, outperforming conventional farming in drought conditions by up to 40% with water volumes percolating through soil 15–20% higher than conventional systems .
